None of these new features are planned for version 1.0. They might appear after a fully stable version of Chatbox is released, or they might not happen at all. Feel free to send me an email with requests for other new features. -Redundant server capability This was the original concept driving me to create Chatbox. Since it is ultimately a client/server architecture, I'd like to account for the possibility that the server might get disconnected. One of the clients connected will have been predetermined to be the next server in the event that the current one goes down, and in that situation, all clients will all connect to the new server and continue chatting uninterrupted. Obviously this feature is a long way off due to the complexity of recreating the network connections between the clients and recreating all the rooms with correct properties, while still maintaining a level of security. -Winamp-style window snapping One of my favorite features about Winamp is the ability to snap windows together so that moving one will move them all. I'm not sure how to do this yet, but I'll mess around with it. -See other people's font in their own style People seem to enjoy seeing how other people have their font settings, so at some point there will be an option to view people's messages in the settings they've defined. The font color settings will not transfer over because it will almost certainly conflict with the client's background color settings. -Visual themes It would be nice to have a theme set up where all font colors and background settings may be applied simultaneously and can be saved for later use. This would allow for greater flexibility for a user to simply select from a list what type of look they want Chatbox to have that day. -More games Egyptian Rat Spit was a fun challenge, mostly because I've never made a card game before (or any game, come to think of it), and I've never seen an Egyptian Rat Spit computer game so I had no idea what to model it after. Now that it's done and appears to be stable (with minor things to deal with), I'd like to add more games. Simple ones like checkers, and maybe someday harder games like poker. Don't expect to play deathmatches in Unreal Tournament, these will be little fun games that I actually have a possiblity of making. Future games: Go Fish Checkers Memory War -Smiley editor The smiley functionality is flexible enough that a user could edit their own settings and incorporate their own smiley images. It's a difficult process and really shouldn't be attempted without an editor program to make sure all the standards are being followed. -Sending files Someday you'll be able to share files with your friends across the Chatbox network. |
